It’s an historic day in BlogHer Conference history (and one that I’ve been anticipating for a very long time now) – the debut of the BlogHer ’11 mobile application for iPhone, Droid, and Blackberry!
This app is designed to make your BlogHer experience easier and more fun. Want to search for sessions by date, time, track? No problem. Pick your favorites and add them to your schedule? We’ve got you covered. Find those sessions on an interactive map of the conference space? Yup, that too. You can also search for your favorite sponsors by name or by category and find them on the map as well.
Just as each device is different, so is each version of the app (but only slightly). On the iPhone app you can rate each session and tweet, from within each session and sponsor, and there’s also a Twitter icon, so you can post your regular updates from the conference without ever having to leave the app. You can also take notes on each sponsor. On the Droid, you have the same tweeting abilities and you can take notes on each session.
And don’t forget the Contacts area. This part of the app is great for sharing your contact information with other attendees and tracking all the great people you’ll meet during the conference. Add your contact information and you’ll be added to the attendee list. Want to find other attendees to share your info with? Simply click on their name in the attendee list. This is entirely opt in and you only share your information with those you explicitly choose. Once you’ve built up your contact list in the app, you can even import it to your phone’s general contact list. You can also direct message other attendees from the Message area. (Unfortunately, the Contacts and Message sections of the app are only available for iPhone and Droid users.)
And we promise, no push notifications, unless there is a major conference update!
So how do you get this amazing tool for yourself? Simply go to http://crwd.cc/blogher11 in your phone’s browser and it will prompt you to download the app. It is also available in the iTunes store and the Android Marketplace.
